According to the California Department of Education, 1,271,150 English learners constitute 20.4 percent of the total enrollment in California public schools in 2018. As a teacher in California, it is my duty to understand and implement all the tools necessary to help English learners improve. My graduate studies and work experience has incorporated many strategies that focus on English Language Learners. These processes equip me to help students acquire proficiency in English as rapidly and effectively as possible while teaching rigorous grade-level academic standards. Meeting these two goals will help close the achievement gap that separates English learners and help bring all students to academic success. The information below provides information, examples, strategies, and lesson adaptations within my classroom for English Language Learners.
